In 2025, Aix-en-Provence will be home to a major Cezanne retrospective, celebrating the enduring legacy of one of the city's most illustrious residents. This year will mark a momentous reunion between the artist and his hometown, as the Granet Museum honours his timeless legacy with a major exhibition of over 130 iconic works from across the globe.
In parallel with this landmark event, Gallifet is delighted to present « Echos de Cezanne » (Echoes of Cezanne), an exhibition that explores the lasting influence of the artist Picasso referred to as ‘the father to us all' on modern and contemporary artists. Whether established or emerging, local or international, sculptors, photographers and painters alike lay claim to a Cezannean lineage. Many others however, may not have consciously sought this influence, yet the imprint is unmistakable, evident in the recurring themes central to his work, which this exhibition will explore.
Among the artists whose work bares traces of the Aix master are names familiar to many, but our focus does not stop there. We have collaborated with the young curator and gallerist Pierre Allizan to include a selection of emerging artists from an up-and-coming generation, each of whom, in their own way, continues to carry Cezanne's legacy forward.
